October 1, 2014

Hello October! Welcome to the second month of the NFL season. The end of September brought a wake-up call to the state of the National Football League. And it also brought us amazing developments.

The story of the AFC comes from the New England Patriots, which isn’t a surprise. What’s intriguing is how the Kansas City Chiefs demolished the Pats 41-14. Coach Bill Belichick benched Tom Brady in favor of Jimmy Garoppolo, who threw a touchdown in the final minutes of the game. Whatever could be happening in New England might bring the end of an era. Then again, it’s only Week 5 for Brady and the Pats.

The NFC East is full of surprises when you least expect it. The New York Giants destroyed the Washington Redskins 45-14 on Thursday night, making Washington’s fans want Robert Griffin III back in a hurry. The Philadelphia Eagles lost to the San Francisco 49ers, who came back to win 26-21. The Dallas Cowboys are streaking, winning their third in a row on Sunday night. They beat the New Orleans Saints 38-17.

Week 5 brings back the Cardinals, Bengals, Broncos, Browns, Rams and Seahawks to the fold. Miami and Oakland will take their bye week today after playing in London.

I went 6-7 last week, bringing my total to 34-27. The following is what I got right and wrong for Week 4.
