2011 NFL Week 9 Picks

Thursday November 3, 2011

Welcome to Week 9 of the NFL season. Teams have been spilt into two categories: those in the hunt for the playoffs and those in the hunt for the number one draft pick. Last week I went 9-4, bringing my total to 76 wins and 40 losses. Here’s a look back at what I got wrong:

Many notable teams play each other this week. The Patriots host the Giants, which is their first encounter since Super Bowl XLII. Two teams in the middle of the pack play on Monday night as the Eagles host the Bears. The Jets face the Bills in an AFC East showdown. The defending Super Bowl Champion Packers travel to San Diego to face the Chargers. Expect all eyes on these games come Sunday.

Detroit, Carolina, Jacksonville and Minnesota will take the week off for their seasons.  Now, let’s take a look at the game of the week:

Game of the Week:

It’s a Sunday night rematch as the Ravens travel to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers. They already beat the Steelers in Week 1, but both are different teams from that game. The 6-2 Steelers went back to business and are in first place of the AFC North. The 5-2 Ravens, however, have been struggling with opponents but still have a winning record. The Ravens’ running game and defense is still top notch, but QB Joe Flacco is shaky at best. The Steelers have the same weapons but the better QB in Ben Roethlisberger. Expect the Steelers to even up the series and increase their AFC North lead.

Prediction: Steelers 30-23

That’s it for today. Good luck with your teams and picks this week.  See you next time.

Yours Truly,

Sebastian Maldonado
