The Legend vs. The Future

This Saturday will feature the UFC’s 135th pay-per-view.  The theme of this PPV is the legend against the future of MMA.  The main event features the defending light-heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones versus Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

Jones returns to the octagon after a year’s absence with a hand injury.  The champion has been putting on a fantastic display of victories.  He earned his title shot by submitting Ryan Bader.  Jones then went on to beat Mauricio “Shogun” Rua for the light-heavyweight championship.  Despite the victory, Jones has not been tested against an opponent.  He made short work of Shogun.  Now, he fights his toughest and most prestigious opponent yet.

Jackson came back after losing to rival Rashad Evans.  He came back with two victories over Lyoto Machida (split decision) and Matt Hamill (unanimous decision).  Jackson gets the shot he’s always wanted.  He wants his belt back.  Jackson did make some valid points in his blog on Yahoo Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slug=ys-ufc_rampage_jackson_blog091311).    He is the last light-heavyweight champion to successfully defend his title without any controversy.  He also unified the UFC and PRIDE light-heavyweight titles.  He believes the UFC Light-Heavyweight Championship is rightfully his.  He now has the chance to prove to the world that title belongs to him.

Who will win this Saturday: Rampage or Bones?  Tune in Saturday night at 9pm EST (check local listings) to find out.  Don’t expect anything technical.  The only thing to expect is a brawl for the UFC Light-Heavyweight Championship.  Here we go…

Yours Truly,

Sebastian Maldonado
