NBA/NHL Playoff Update

Playoff season is getting better and better. The games are getting more competitive as the first round draws to a close. The NHL Playoffs is heating up. Some favorites are winning, but others are taking surprising leads. Here’s an update on the teams that are vying for the Stanley Cup:

Eastern Conference

Series A: #1 Washington Capitals vs. #8 New York Rangers (Capitals lead series 2-1)

Series B: #2 Philadelphia Flyers vs. #7 Buffalo Sabres (Series tied 1-1)

Series C: #3 Boston Bruins vs. #6 Montreal Canadiens (Canadiens lead series 2-0)

Series D: #4 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. #5 Tampa Bay Lightning(Series tied 1-1)

Western Conference

Series E: #1 Vancouver Canucks vs. #8 Chicago Blackhawks (Canucks lead series 3-0)

Series F: #2 San Jose Sharks vs. #7 Los Angeles Kings (Series tied 1-1)

Series G: #3 Detroit Red Wings vs. #6 Phoenix Coyotes (Red Wings lead series 2-0)

Series H: #4 Anaheim Ducks vs. #5 Nashville Predators (Predators lead series 2-1)

The NBA is moving on with injuries and controversies. The Western Conference is turning into the Wild, Wild West. The Spurs and Lakers dropped their Game 1s on their home turfs. The Eastern Conference is being evened out with last minute shots and game changing calls. Here are the standings from last night’s games:

Eastern Conference

#1 Chicago Bulls vs. #8 Indiana Pacers (Bulls lead series 1-0)

#4 Orlando Magic vs. #5 Atlanta Hawks (Hawks lead series 1-0)

#3 Boston Celtics vs. #6 New York Knicks (Celtics lead series 1-0)

#2 Miami Heat vs. #7 Philadelphia 76ers (Heat lead series 1-0)

Western Conference

#1 San Antonio Spurs vs. #8 Memphis Grizzlies (Grizzlies lead series 1-0)

#4 Oklahoma City Thunder vs. #5 Denver Nuggets (Thunder lead series 1-0)

#3 Dallas Mavericks vs. #6 Portland Trail Blazers (Mavericks lead series 1-0)

#2 Los Angeles Lakers vs. #7 New Orleans Hornets (Hornets lead series 1-0)

Check local listings for all games and times. Both postseasons should be getting better and better. Who will advance to the semifinals? Only time will tell.
