History happened in the NBA as a record was shattered last night. Reggie Miller’s NBA record for 3-pointers is no longer a record. No longer is Reggie Miller the three point king. That title belongs to Ray Allen.
Allen needed two 3-pointers to break the record against the Lakers last night and did just that. The crowd knew what was happening; they would be a part of history. They erupted at every attempt Allen made. He made the first one, sending the crowd into a frenzy. He tried a second time but missed, bringing the crowd into collective disappointment. When he broke the record, the crowd was on a roller coaster of emotions. Allen raised his hand in calm poise, and he was embraced by his teammates. He went to the crowd and hugged his mother. He also went to Miller himself, who was calling the game for TNT.
Funny isn’t it, how Miller became the greatest 3-point shooter from Celtic Larry Bird. Now, that title is back in Boston. Ray Allen is not just a champion, an All-Star and a player. He is now the 3-point king. All he needs now is another championship to coronate his season.
