The UFC is having two big weekends, one on pay-per-view and the other on free TV.
Two marquee matches headline UFC 123 in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The official main event is a battle between two former light-heavyweight champions. Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida returns to the octagon to take on Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Both are coming off huge losses and need a victory to put them back in the title hunt. A loss would be devastating for either man. Our co-main event features the third encounter between Matt Hughes and B.J. Penn. This welterweight battle is the rubber match, with Penn winning the first and Hughes winning the second. Both fighters want this victory as it would move them up in the welterweight rankings. Yet, this isn’t about titles unlike their first two matches. This is personal.
Two weeks from now features the conclusion of the 12th season of The Ultimate Fighter in Las Vegas. Team GSP currently has a stranglehold over Team Koscheck with three fighters to one:
Team GSP: Michael Johnson, Kyle Watson, Jonathan Brookins
Team Koscheck: Nam Pham
The final two fighters will battle for a contract in the UFC. Find out who makes it December 1st as the final two will be revealed at 9PM EST (check local listings). Plus, Deimian Maia will take on TUF 3 winner Kendall Grove in a middleweight bout and TUF 1 alum Stephan Bonner will also be action. Tune in next Saturday for some exciting fights on SpikeTV!
See you next time for your regularly scheduled update.
