The only game I caught was Dallas and Minnesota, last week’s game of the week. It lived up to expectations of the wrong kind. Dallas again committed too many penalties that cost them the game. Tony Romo threw an interception that led to the game winning field goal for Minnesota. The Vikings did enough to win, but they got lucky. Will they be lucky enough this week to take on their rivals, the Green Bay Packers? Plus, can Dallas salvage their season at home against their rivals, the New York Football Giants?

Here are my picks for Week 7. Detroit, NY Jets, Houston and Indianapolis will enjoy their bye week tomorrow and fight next week. Remember, the s.o. stands for the potential shutout game.

It’s been a very exciting season so far, but it has not come without a price. In good conscience, I will not cover our game of the week segment today. Instead, I will address an issue that has been on the minds of all football fans.

Time for the magic man to take over!

Pure Magic:

Concussions are running rampant throughout the league this year. This is coming off of a new helmet design to supposedly protect the players even more than the old ones. Unfortunately, concussions are at its highest rate. Dirty hits to the head are also to blame. Everyone’s getting hurt; even the slightest collision can lead to a concussion. That’s not good for the future of the NFL.

Three illegal hits happened last week. They caused the new crackdown of illegal hits in the NFL. It might not be enough. It’s obvious that these new helmets are to blame. They are the equivalent of the maple bats used in baseball. That’s how dangerous they are. The lives of our players are on the line, but thanks to this recent development, we are looking at shortened careers, at the least. It’s up to the NFL to not just enforce fines and suspensions but look at the new helmets. Do they really protect the head from vicious hits? Can they protect the head from vicious hits? It’s a tall order to ask from Commissioner Roger Goodell and his staff, but they can and MUST get the job done.

Good luck with your picks and teams this week.

Yours Truly,

Sebastian Maldonado
