NFL Week 3 Picks

Friday September 24, 2010

This brings my record to 18-14. I saw five games this week, so here are my impressions from each team:

Dolphins at Vikings: the Dolphins outclassed the Vikings in their battle. Minnesota looked lost on some plays, and Brett Favre took a beating because of it. He has no one to throw to, while Chad Henne and the Dolphins had all day. It was not a blowout but a dominating performance once again from Miami.

Falcons at Cardinals: not much to say about this one. The Cardinals looked sloppy and made careless plays. The Falcons squashed them in this blowout.

Patriots at Jets: will the real Mark Sanchez please stand up? Will the Patriots defense get better? The Jets looked better as the game went on. The Pats better stop questioning Brady’s hairdo and start playing better. Meanwhile, Darrelle Revis might miss up to 2 weeks. How will this affect the Jets defense?

Giants at Colts: the Manning Bowl turned into the Colts’ onslaught. The Giants were schooled again by the Colts and played horribly on primetime. The problem was they had the wrong strategy. Instead of passing more, they should have run the ball more. Regardless, the Colts were not willing to go 0-2.

Saints at 49ers: our first nail-biter for Monday Night was amazing. The 49ers might have won if they didn’t beat themselves up. Both drives at the end were unbelievable. If that field goal was blocked and not tipped (if only that defender moved a little to the left), then this game might have ended differently.

Here are my picks for Week 3 (the s.o. stands for the shutout game):

Now here’s my pick for Game of the Week:

Game of the Week: vs.

It’s a primetime battle for AFC supremacy as the Jets take on the Dolphins. Miami won both encounters last season and almost made it to the playoffs. The Jets rose to nearly the AFC Championship Game, but there was one team they couldn’t beat: Miami. These encounters were WITH Darrelle Revis and without the new Dolphins’ WR Brandon Marshall. Revis will not play due to a strained hamstring. Both teams have a heated rivalry and will not relent quietly. Expect a defensive battle, if both teams show up.

Prediction: Dolphins 17-13

Good luck with your teams and your picks.

Yours Truly,

Sebastian Maldonado
