The 2010 FIFA World Cup is over!!! How did your team do? Were you like the octopus and picked Spain to win it all? As the World Cup closes its doors in South Africa, many headlines made the press over the past month. Here’s what we saw.
We saw hard fought teams lay everything on the line. We witnessed two teams not used to winning in the World Cup vying for the title in Spain and Netherlands. We saw Uruguay and Germany become the runner-ups and dominate the cup in dramatic and exciting fashion. We bared witness to favorites falling, such as Brazil. Even the United States had a short run as the underdog playing against tough teams. Yet, problems arose during the tournament.
Questionable calls and non-calls were met under fire. Players stalled the game due to questionable penalties. Some were even carried out stretchers and then came back a few minutes later. Even goals weren’t called due to these tactics. It only calls for new rules and instant replay.
For starters, too many people flop on the ground and expect the game time to stop. Referees were fed up after the 100th time this has happened. Yes it is a bit of an over exaggeration, but it’s true. The games excelled and can excel without people falling down and flopping around. Why keep allowing it? Plus, instant replay must be used. Too many wrong calls have been made. FIFA officials already said instant replay will not be used. They think it will damage the game, but it would enhance it. Baseball’s replay and basketball’s are working. Why not use it? These are only things to consider, and maybe not as many yellow cards and red cards will be drawn.
Well, that’s it for today. See you next time you KNUCKLEHEADS!!!
